With the second session of the ‘Expats Excel Series’ held the previous week with highly esteemed professional guest speaker Dr. Renata Thiébaut on June 29th, Globlue is elated to announce it was a very interesting webinar fueled with many insightful comments considering Dr. Renata’s brilliant accomplishments and academic background as COO of Green Proposition Consulting firm and Professor at GISMA University of Applied Sciences.
She is internationally recognized for advising governments and international organizations on e-commerce and cross-border e-commerce, being awarded the 2020 Innovator of the Year Issued by the International Professional Women's Society. Moreover, Dr.Renata has previously worked at Alibaba Global Initiatives and is now the advisor of Tencent Holdings, making her a superb candidate for speaking on the Expats Excel Series platform.

The attendees of this series primarily consisted again of expatriates, entrepreneurs, and foreign students. They listened keenly to Dr. Renata Thiébaut and all of her insights pertaining to the challenges and advantages of building a career as a foreigner in China, with consideration she studied here over 10 years ago when the dynamic was very different.

She also gave advice on unique strategies to stand out from the competition when applying for jobs, and the necessity of exploring various ways to harness the growth opportunities in the e-commerce sector of the local market. Considering her background in Green Propisiton, this advice was invaluable.

With the understanding that the three main aims of this series are connecting, inspiring, and sharing - our Q&A session was undoubtedly reflective of that. Participants were most particularly interested in her advice regarding her work internship in the United Nations during her time in China and workplace culture differences between Europe.

Our media partner, The Expatriate Centre represented by Bristol, took several minutes following the Q&A session to share their new Social Entrepreneurship Competition, which fosters mentorship and entrepreneurship aligned for participants 18 years and older. The program will be conducted in English, and was extremely relevant in particular for the foreign bachelor and master degree students that attend our webinar sessions.
