Globlue Enterprise Services Successfully Holds Legal Seminar With Highly Distinguished Lawyer as Guest Speaker
On May 12th 2023, Globlue Enterprise Services successfully hosted a premier informative seminar entitled ‘Legal Insights for Expats: Working and investing in China’. The event brought together foreign entrepreneurs, employees and students who are keen on working in China following graduation interested in gaining insights on key topics such as social insurance, labour disputes, income queries, industry qualifications and risks for foreign enterprises in China.

Guest Speaker Introduction, Education & Background
We had the privilege of hosting Donghai Bai, a distinguished lawyer from Tahota Law Firm's International Department, as our guest speaker at our recent event. Mr. Bai holds a Master of Laws in Common Law from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and is a member of the Young International Arbitration Group at the London Court of International Arbitration.
With extensive experience in cross-border business, dispute resolution, and corporate law, Mr. Bai is a highly respected professional in his field.

Seminar’s Starting Discussion Targeted Towards Students Attending
The seminar started with a discussion on whether foreign students in China are allowed to run a company and explored the legal requirements and regulations surrounding this issue. Mr.Bai ultimately advised that foreign students in China cannot operate a company without the necessary permits and documentation.

Notable Topics Discussed
Other topics included social insurance for foreigners working for Chinese companies, labour disputes, and extra income for foreign workers in China. The seminar also discussed the industries that foreign companies need to apply for relevant qualifications to enter China and the labour regulations that foreign enterprises must follow while entering China.
Mr.Bai furthermore discussed the requirement for foreigners working for Chinese companies to participate in the Chinese social insurance system, which includes five types of insurance: pension, medical, work injury, maternity, and unemployment. Finally, as a foreign worker in China, one has legal rights and protections in the event of a labour dispute with the employer, which includes negotiating with the employer, filing a complaint, and seeking legal advice.
